BIBLE VERSE:

'But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. '

Acts of the Apostles 20:24

QUOTE TO REMEMBER:

“The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.”

Walt Disney

A RESOURCE TO CONSIDER:

My wife and I recently discovered this gem on Netflix. We were inspired by the discoveries made, and the simple life changes any of us can do to live longer, healthier lives. One thing to pay attention to in this documentary is the importance of community in each of the Blue Zones.

STU ON THIS:

How well do you know your neighbors? This is a question I have been wrestling with for a few weeks now. My family has been living on our street for the past two years, working on three, and we have really only connected with one of our neighbors in that time, and mainly because he took the initiative.

The above docuseries “Living To 100: The Secrets of the Blue Zones” Highlighted to me how backwards the American culture has become. We need one another, we are designed for community, and that community can be found in many places. It can be found in your place of business, your kids sporting events, or school functions, or in your church. But, what about the community that is right next door? I can remember a time growing up when Christmas parties were with the people that lived on the same street as my family, with people we were literally in a community with.

In our household we have begun to take the initiative to really get to know our neighbors. For us it started with a simple plate of home baked cookies that was delivered to our neighbors that we haven’t met. It’s a small step, but it’s a step in the right direction.

What is one simple thing you could do to really get to know your neighbors?

As you get to know your neighbors, use this BLOCK MAP as a tool to help you see the progress you are making!
