Why do you do the things that you do? Have you ever stopped to think about that?

Every single moment, everyone of us are making a conscious decision to perform a certain act. Most times those decisions are made on autopilot, meaning you don’t even realize you are doing something that your are doing because it has become so routine, your mind has decided to no longer put effort to make that decision happen. If you have ever been driving someplace you’ve been to a thousand times, and then suddenly you’re there but you don’t remember the drive or how you got there, then you have experienced the autopilot I’m talking about.

Sometimes, what we think about ourselves goes into autopilot as well. And often, how we think about ourselves will determine the things that we do. It’s the subtle difference of saying “I need to drink more water” compared to “I am someone who drinks a gallon of water a day.” As Pastor Craig Groeschel would say, “your who determines the do.” Who you are determines the things you do.

So, back to my original question. Why do you do the things you do? It’s probably because of who you have already determined you are, or at least think you are.
