STU ON THIS:

It has been extremely cold here in Wisconsin the past couple of days. Maybe it has been where you are at as well. But, at one point the other night I looked at my wife and said to her “I already don’t want to do tomorrow because of this dang cold.”

It is amazing how we can let minor set backs throw off our entire routine. Normally my day starts with waking up, spending some one-on-one time with God, and then helping get the kids ready to get out the door, and then make my way to the gym. But, because of the negative degree temps here, I don’t want to leave the house. Judge me all you want. I grew up in the desert. Cold like this isn’t supposed to exist (dang sin!).

Now that my therapy time is over (I’ll pay you later for listening), I share that with you because here is the truth, there will always be set backs in life. The question we have to ask ourselves is, “are we training ourselves to be reactive or proactive for when these set backs come our way?” How we prepare ourselves in advance for the unexpected can sometimes result in a warrior mentality, or a victim mentality.

I had the opportunity almost a couple of years ago to sit down with my buddy Chris, who has an amazing streak of 4200+ plus days of running at least a mile a day. He has accomplished this despite illness, weather, or any other hurdle life throws his way. You can listen to this interview HERE, and I pray it will encourage you to move forward, no matter what life throws at you today or in the future.

Until next Stuesday,

Stuart McPherson
