BIBLE VERSE:
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)
QUOTE TO REMEMBER:
"Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."
-Winston S. Churchill
THIS WEEK IN HISTORY:
After ruling for less than one year, Edward VIII becomes the first English monarch to voluntarily abdicate the throne. He chose to abdicate after the British government, public, and the Church of England condemned his decision to marry the American divorcée Wallis Warfield Simpson. HERE!
A RESOURCE TO CONSIDER:
For the past year I have been using the Christian Planner, “Faith & Focus” 90 day planner. It has increased my productivity, and has kept me on task. If you are looking for a resource to keep you focused in 2024, I highly recommend this product!
STU ON THIS:
Why do you do the things that you do? Have you ever stopped to think about that?
Every single moment, everyone of us are making a conscious decision to perform a certain act. Most times those decisions are made on autopilot, meaning you don’t even realize you are doing something that your are doing because it has become so routine, your mind has decided to no longer put effort to make that decision happen. If you have ever been driving someplace you’ve been to a thousand times, and then suddenly you’re there but you don’t remember the drive or how you got there, then you have experienced the autopilot I’m talking about.
Sometimes, what we think about ourselves goes into autopilot as well. And often, how we think about ourselves will determine the things that we do. It’s the subtle difference of saying “I need to drink more water” compared to “I am someone who drinks a gallon of water a day.” As Pastor Craig Groeschel would say, “your who determines the do.” Who you are determines the things you do.
So, back to my original question. Why do you do the things you do? It’s probably because of who you have already determined you are, or at least think you are.
Stu on this this week. Do the things you do show you're someone who you want to be? If not, who do you need to become, and what ONE thing can you do this week to start becoming that person?
Until next Stuesday,
Stuart McPherson
